How to choose
Three formats for similar, but different, needs
The 6.5 L WMF Perfect Plus is the option we would examine for an intermediate nominal volume. The 6 L Kuhn Rikon Duromatic offers a two-handle format. The 6 L BRA Vitesse is another long-handle option, with a different base and diameter. Choose with storage and lifting in mind, not solely a half-litre difference.
Litres of cooker capacity are not litres of food under pressure
Fill markings and restrictions for expanding or foaming foods take precedence over nominal volume. Check the manual for the maximum for pulses and grains, minimum liquid and pressure-release procedure. We do not publish one universal quantity for all three cookers.
Recipe timing must distinguish building pressure, cooking and releasing pressure. Two preparations with the same cooking minutes may take different times to reach the table. Nor can a saucepan recipe always be adapted by dividing its timing by two or three.
Spare parts and maintenance matter in the long term
Identify the gasket, valve and handle references before buying. A similar part from another series is not necessarily compatible. Check components' condition and cleanliness before use, and follow the manufacturer's replacement schedule or criteria.
Do not force opening or tamper with safety mechanisms. Open the lid only when the manual's procedure permits it. Nor do we assume a household pressure cooker is suitable for canning: that is a separate use outside this comparison.
Cooking tip
Brown meat in batches to avoid accumulating water, remove excess fat where appropriate and then add the liquid specified for cooking. Thickening a sauce at the end with the cooker open may offer more control than starting with an overly dense mixture. Among the related recipes, beetroot carpaccio includes pressure cooking; conventional stews require specific adaptation, not automatic conversion.
How we research and what we have not tested
Selection for the Spanish market reviewed on 13 September 2026. We cross-checked references and features on official pages and in manuals, linked in each product review. Recommendations by use are our editorial judgement based on those data, not results of physical tests. We have not measured these models' performance, noise, energy use, wear or comfort. We do not assign scores or a permanent value-for-money winner.
Images come from product pages; sources are listed in each review. Amazon links are reference searches and require checking the exact offer; other links lead to the official shop. Price and stock have not been confirmed. Related recipes illustrate possible uses, not verified compatibility or testing with each product.

A closer look
WMF Perfect Plus 6.5 L
A stainless-steel pressure cooker for anyone looking for an intermediate nominal capacity.
Capacity: 6.5 L
Specification-based analysis · Reviewed 13 Sep 2026
Best suited to: Stews and pulses, following the fill markings
What we like
- A nominal capacity of 6.5 L and two cooking levels.
- Cromargan stainless steel and induction compatibility.
Things to consider
- It must not be filled to 6.5 L for pressure cooking.
- The seal and lid handle need separate care.
Methodology and evidence
Cross-checking official product information and manuals, with editorial interpretation based on cooking needs. No hands-on tests or verification of offers. Sources are linked in the review.
We would consider it for cooking several portions without moving straight to a very large cooker. The actual quantity depends on the food: pulses that expand need more free space than a preparation that does not foam.
Check the seal and valves before each use and follow the specified pressure-release procedure. Do not rush opening the lid or convert a conventional cooking time by dividing it by a fixed number. The time needed to build and release pressure also counts.

Kuhn Rikon Duromatic Inox 6 L with side handles
A two-handle design for anyone who prefers to avoid a long handle when storing the cooker.
Capacity: 6 L
Specification-based analysis · Reviewed 13 Sep 2026
Best suited to: Anyone who prefers a cooker with two side handles
What we like
- A nominal capacity of 6 L and a 24 cm diameter.
- A side-handle design identified by reference 3017.
Things to consider
- The diameter does not mean it can be filled to the rim.
- Look up spare parts for this reference, not just any Duromatic.
Methodology and evidence
Cross-checking official product information and manuals, with editorial interpretation based on cooking needs. No hands-on tests or verification of offers. Sources are linked in the review.
The shape may matter as much as half a litre of capacity. Check where you will store it, its weight when full and whether you can comfortably carry it with both hands protected.
Reference 3017 is the complete 6 L cooker with side handles, not a replacement body. Follow its manual's minimum-liquid requirements and fill limits. We have not tested pressure build-up speed or ease of cleaning against other cookers.

BRA Vitesse 6 L
A pressure cooker with a long handle and two cooking levels, in the 6-litre version.
Capacity: 6 L
Specification-based analysis · Reviewed 13 Sep 2026
Best suited to: Anyone who prefers a traditional long-handle design and closure
What we like
- 18/10 stainless steel; compatible with induction.
- 6 L capacity, 22 cm diameter and two cooking levels.
Things to consider
- The lid must be washed by hand.
- The range includes several sizes: check reference A185102.
Methodology and evidence
Cross-checking official product information and manuals, with editorial interpretation based on cooking needs. No hands-on tests or verification of offers. Sources are linked in the review.
We include it as a 6 L alternative with a different diameter from the Duromatic. When browning food before adding liquid, base size and the quantity per batch matter more than total volume.
Safety devices do not remove the need for maintenance. Keep the outlets clear as instructed in the manual and do not force a pressurised lid. We do not turn these features into a guarantee of absolute safety or repeat advertised percentage savings here.

Frequently asked questions
Can I fill a 6 L pressure cooker with 6 L of stew?
No. Follow the manual's markings and limits for each food type, leaving the required free space.
Does cooking time start when I turn on the heat?
Pressure-cooking time is usually counted from reaching the specified pressure level. Building and releasing pressure also contribute to the total time.
Can I open it if it seems to have stopped boiling?
Do not use that observation as your criterion. Follow your model's indicator and safe-opening procedure, without forcing the lid.
