Cut the cold puff pastry into six rectangles. Pat the frankfurters dry and wrap each in a thin slice of Gouda.

Wrap each sausage in a rectangle with a small overlap and press the seam closed. Beat the egg and brush the surface. Make two small cuts in the pastry to release steam.

Preheat the empty air fryer for 5 minutes at 180°C. Cook two batches of three spaced-out rolls, seam-side down initially, for 12–15 minutes at 180°C. Turn after 9 minutes and check that the pastry is cooked throughout and the sausage piping hot.

Rest for 3 minutes and serve one per person. For young children, cut the sausage lengthways into quarters and then into suitable pieces, never into round coins.
