Melt the butter in a wide pan. Add bacon strips and cook for 5 minutes. Add sliced garlic and cook for 1 minute without over-browning. Add chopped sun-dried tomatoes and half the basil.

Add the cream cheese, milk and 450 ml stock. Stir until dissolved and bring to a gentle simmer. Add the linguine, easing them under as they soften. Cook for the time on the packet, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.

Gradually add the remaining 150 ml stock during cooking. When the pasta is al dente and the sauce creamy, adjust the salt and pepper. Serve with Parmesan, the remaining basil and parsley.
